Some rooms are past patch-and-repair but nowhere near needing to be gutted. The walls are scuffed, the trim is dated, the light fixtures came with the house and the floor has seen better days. That’s where a small remodel fits: bigger than a repair, smaller than a rebuild.
Swiftwater Houseworks handles small remodels around Cle Elum, Roslyn and Suncadia with our own local, bonded crew. The layout usually stays put. What changes is everything you see and touch.
What a small remodel can include
- Interior paint. Walls, ceilings and trim, with the patching and prep done first so the paint has a good surface to sit on.
- Trim. New baseboards and door and window casing, the finish work that makes a room look done.
- Fixture replacement. Light fixtures, ceiling fans, faucets and the other pieces that date a room.
- Drywall and ceilings. Patching, smoothing out years of old repairs and fresh ceiling texture.
- New floors. Hardwood, LVP, laminate or tile, installed by the same crew. Our flooring installation page covers the options.

Where a small remodel makes sense
- A cabin that still looks like the last owner’s. New paint, trim and lighting make a place feel like yours without starting over.
- A tired rental. Scuffed walls and dated fixtures show up in listing photos. Fresh paint, new fixtures and a floor that can take traffic make the place look cared for again. Pair it with vacation home care and it stays that way.
- A bathroom or bedroom refresh. New fixtures, paint and a new floor can change how a room feels without moving a wall.
- Getting ready to sell. Paint, trim and fixture updates are some of the simplest ways to get a house ready to list.
Brandon & his team are fantastic. The crew is cheerful & personable. Many homes in our neighborhood use Swiftwater Earthworks for jobs large & small.
How we plan the work
Order matters. We do the messy work first: drywall repairs, ceiling texture and paint. The new floor goes in after that, so it isn’t sitting under texture spray and paint drips. Baseboards go on last, covering the floor’s edge and getting their final coat in place.
A few choices that pay off in a mountain home:
- Use a paint you can scrub in entries, mudrooms and hallways where wet gear and dogs come through.
- Keep wall colors simple in a rental. Touch-ups between guests are easier when most rooms share the same can.
- Think about the floor at the door. Snowmelt and grit land in the first few feet inside. That’s a spot for tile or LVP, even if the rest of the room is wood.
- Use the quiet season. If your place sits empty between visits, that’s an easy window to get the work done without living around it.
If it turns into more
Sometimes opening up a room shows a bigger project underneath. We’ll tell you before we go further, and when a job reaches past what we do best, Brandon will connect you with a local business he trusts. For one-off fixes, our handyman services cover the list. Once the dust settles, a deep clean from our house cleaning crew gets the place ready for you or your guests.
